The BMW F 700 GS is the update to the BMW F 650 GS (the parallel twin one with the detuned 798cc engine). Like the F 650 GS twin, the F 700 GS has a name that doesn’t correlate directly to the engine capacity of 798cc. It’s still positioned as the more easy-going, road-going F 800 GS.
I'm on the road and changing the oil on my wife's 2011 F650GS. I cannot find her handbook and I do not know the oil capacity with a new filter install as well. Have not been able to find it online, so please help.
Start the engine and let it run for a couple of minutes to fill up the oil filter. Then turn the bike off and let it sit for 5-10 minutes to let the oil drain back into the sump. Then add oil slowly until it's about 2/3 to 3/4 of the way up the sight glass. Go for a ride and then be sure to check the sight glass again the next day and top off
